GENOA acknowledges and honours the indigenous wisdom and intuitive approaches to living and learning across our region. We work consciously to localise the ecovillage curriculum within an Asian and Oceanic context. GENOA is fortunate to have many people, organisations and networks developing and delivering education programs and frameworks based on local needs and aspirations, and also inspired by GEN and Gaia Education.
Our network members have designed and many continue to deliver ecovillage education programs for schools and children; adult trainings and workshops that foster lifestyle transformation and low impact living; and Ecovillage Design Education (EDEs). GENOA has partnered with network members in China, Thailand and India to co-facilitate EDEs for youth and adults. GENOA consultants have also collaborated with local organisations and national networks to introduce ecovillage design and transition in Sri Lanka and Fiji.
GENOA Education represents a multifaceted and dynamic interface for mapping, bridging, and documenting holistic education movements and programs. At the heart of this movement is a deep awareness and understanding of current education systems and an intuitive knowing that the modern educational paradigm can shift, ultimately creating space for more innovative and culturally sensitive ways for us to adapt and assimilate information and ideas in an ever changing global network.
ReGEN Nations is a GENOA education project that aims to create space for practitioners and local change makers to engage with ecovillage education and put into practice its tools and methodologies into actual projects.
