Who we are
NextGENOA is a network of young people from the Asia and Oceania region who are committed to care for the earth by practicing and promoting sustainable living and ecovillage values within the region & potentially beyond the region.
NextGENOA as a regional network, is in close contact with national and local NextGEN groups such as NextGEN South Korea, NextGEN Sri Lanka, NextGEN China and NextGEN Thailand.
NextGENOA is also a member of NextGEN – the youth movement of Global Ecovillage Network and a youth body of GENOA – the Global Ecovillage Network in Oceania and Asia.
Our Vision and Mission
We envision a society where young people are empowered to take responsibility in any capacity that they have, to create a self sustaining society that embraces all life forms.
NextGENOA’s purpose is to inspire, encourage and support young people walking the road less travelled leading towards a regenerative and healthy world.
History of NextGENOA
In November, 2014, NextGENOA had its first regional gathering in India where representatives from the different countries of the Asia & Oceania region were present. During this 5-day gathering, we looked into how to create a stronger NextGENOA network and empower the sustainability movement of young people in Asia and Oceania. NextGENOA representatives shared their experiences and visions from their countries and from there, it became clear that to strengthen the network further, we need to have a more intensive gathering combined with an intensive educational program that will deeply bond the NextGENOA youth together and where the youth can experience living their shared values together in a community setting.

In 2016, NextGENOA Conference was held at the end of the Ecovillage Design Education course in Gaia Ashram, Thailand. In this conference, we have presented NextGENOA to the youth from different parts of Oceania and Asia. This event attracted a lot of new members to join NextGENOA and became the core members of the network.

Since then, we have been working actively to make our vision come alive, holding youth gatherings, co-facilitating Ecovillage Design Education (EDE) courses and supporting youth-led projects.
